Thanks for swinging 'round. I wear a lot of hats. Too many. So here is just for my art art. I sing and write songs, perform, dance, illustrate, paint, my bachelor's is in Graphic Design, and I'm an international award winning photographer. My main source of income (if you can even call it that) are my t-shirt designs. All of which, including my music, should you want to, can be found at:
I'm Jamie. I grew up in California, moved to London and was there for 7 years. I only really post my "'traditional art' style" works here.
I took 8 years of weekly, private art lessons in California, which covered almost every type of medium under the sun.
I just graduated university in London with a Bachelor's degree (with Honours) in Graphic Design from Middlesex University. In my second year, I won an international student award, D&AD, for my photo essay on Poverty. The official link has changed, but I have them up in my design portfolio.
Current Residence: California
Personal Quote: "I make myself laugh more than anyone else I know."
Now, I'm loathe to post this kind of thing – a promo for a fandom fest. BUT – I'm running the fest with NachoDiablo over at Dreamwidth (Sign-Ups here!) And we're super excited and want artists galore!
Artists! As Churchill said in May, 1940, "Come then, let us go forward together with our united strength."
So, come then! We're super fun. There ain't no party like a big bang party cuz a big bang party NEEDS PARTICIPANTS.
The concept of a Big Bang is present across multiple fandoms, though the very first one in 2005 was a Harry Potter fandom fest. We’re simply carrying on the tradition! Of course, Remus and Sirius have their own theories about why they like the name Big Bang…
SO! Writers will be committing to 30k words, and artists will be committing to 3 pieces of artwork.
On 2 February, writers will submit an outline of their story. Artists will then have a week to review the outlines and anonymously submit their Top 3 Choices for collaboration by 9 February. The mods will then pair up writers and artists, and announce the pairings the following week. I know several types of concerns that arise about pairings, and you can read our F.A.Q.s in our Welcome post on Dreamwidth.
There will be several Check-Ins, Cheerleading posts, fun event posts (Remus's Birthday will be a month after all is assigned...), and regular "keep you in the loop" announcement posts. These will be held mainly on Dreamwidth, but also tumblr and a Discord chat. And we all know that there ain't no party like big bang party, because a big bang party is fun you guys, come on.
In the past, there were two problems with the R/S Big Bang. First, the authors & artists weren't collaborating, nor were they encouraged, or even given ways to contact each other - so no one had any clue if their partner was still in the game, finished, etc, and a lot of artists dropped out because of the lack of deference and respect for their contribution to the fest. To be honest, I find that artists seem to be often overlooked throughout the way fests are run – in theme, rules, execution, and acknowledgment. I'm a big, active, vocal Remus/Sirius fanartist, and I created shaggydog_swap.livejournal.com 6 years ago, as a friendly backlash, per se, for the express purpose of prioritizing artists. Reverse bang, basically.
YOUR TRUSTY BANGY MODS:
I, Jamie a.k.a. myprettycabinet, am the Art-Mod.
@NachoDiablo is the Writer-Mod
Our goal is to have artists and writers treated equally, artists valued equally, and pull all y'all out of the woodwork. Fans connecting and supporting each other for the entirety of the collaboration, from sign-ups all the way through to posting. And, duh, most importantly? HAVING FUN.
To sum up, you’ll have six months to Big Bang it all out, art like a boss, make friends, be awesome, and just generally Have It All – AND THEN, we all get to enjoy an end-of-summer Wolfstar content binge!
We really hope to see tons of artists - POWER IN NUMBERS.
BANG, BANG, BANG ON THE DOOR - Love bang, baby big bang...lol
